The stunning coastal region of South Dalmatia is characterised by its picturesque islands, impressive coves and perfect blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. Most popular (understandably) as a nautical tourism destination – it’s the combination of both boat and cycling tour that make this particular holiday so wonderfully unique and full of variety.

The region is steeped in rich and ancient history, which will become highly evident as early as day one of your tour (a visit to Split, home of Diocletain’s incredible 4th century Roman Palace). Each island has its own remarkable past, and with 8 days to explore their many virtues, you’ll soon learn what a significant historical role this area has played during the last 2-3000 years! What will also become very clear is exactly why people have been drawn to this region for quite so long; you’ll be skirting some of the most spectacular coastlines, vineyard covered mountainsides and lavender fields the eyes have ever seen. With ample opportunity to cool off in the flawless blue sea that surrounds you, we’re sure you’ll agree that this sun soaked cycle tour ticks all the right boxes.

One of the other great bonuses of being surrounded by water is the abundance of fresh fish it means is eaten across the region. Typically grilled or stewed, Dalmatian cuisine is both wholesome and delicious – very much how we’d like to describe this bike and boat tour in its entirety!

Day 1: Arrival in Trogir – Split

Day 2: Cetina Canyon: 30/43km cycle

Day 3: Bra?: 22km cycle

Day 4: Kor?ula: 48km cycle

Day 5: Islands of Vis and Hvar: 32km cycle

Day 6: Hvar Island: 45km cycle

Day 7: Šolta: 19km cycle

Day 8: Departure from Trogir

Day 1: Arrival in Trogir – Split

Arriving at Split airport, a short transfer will take you to the harbour of Trogir, where you will check in to your boat between 2-2:30pm before cruising over to the largest city in Dolmatia – Split. Here you can take a walk through the incredible old town, built in and around Diocletain’s 4th century Roman Palace and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 2: Cetina Canyon: 30/43km cycle

After breakfast the first cycling stage of your tour sees you set off through the valley of the emerald green Cetina River. After 20km you then have the choice between a four-hour rafting tour along the Cetina, followed by a 10km cycle tour back to the boat – or to extend the cycling tour by 23km along rolling landscapes to the stunning town of Omiš – where the Cetina meets the Adriatic Sea. In the afternoon you’ll cruise to the beautiful island of Bra?, but not before a well deserved bathing stop along the way.

Day 3: Bra?: 22km cycle

Today’s stage starts in Pu?iš?a with a long but gentle ascent to the Island’s mountain ridge. The route takes you among some of the luscious vineyards and olive groves for which the island is well known. The reward for your hard work comes in the form of panoramic views of the neighbouring island of Hvar on your descent towards Boi. The day ends with a cruise to the island of Kor?ula, where a walk around the remarkable, historic, fortified Kor?ula town awaits you.

Day 4: Kor?ula: 48km cycle

Today is all about discovering the island of Kor?ula by bike. Kor?ula is considered one of the most beautiful Dalmatian islands, in part due to its remoteness and the vast deep green pine forests that cover its interior. You start by sticking to the coast before an assent to the pass road over the amazing Pupnat bay. Later on you pass through Blato, built, like Rome, on seven hills. The final destination is Prigardica.

Day 5: Islands of Vis and Hvar: 32km cycle

Today starts with a cycling tour of Vis, the farthest inhabited island from mainland Croatia. It’s covered with vineyards and is well known for its sardines, mackerel and anchovies – yum! Later on the boat takes you to the island of Hvar where you’ll visit the magnificent Renaissance Square and enjoy the view from the Spanish Fortress situated high above the city.

Day 6: Hvar Island: 45km cycle

Today’s route is split into two. First, an almost car free road takes you nicely through a set of quaint and charming villages as far as Stari Grad – one of the oldest towns in Europe which is filled with examples of ancient and classical archaeology. After lunch, you then cycle on to the peaceful harbours of Jelsa and Vrboska where you’ll take a nice long break before heading back to Stari Grad for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Šolta: 19km cycle

After crossing over to Stomorska on the Island of Šolta you’ll begin the final cycling stage of your tour. Walled lavender fields, olive groves, locust bean and fig trees line the roads on your route through the island. You’ll then load the bikes back onto the ship in Maslinica and enjoy your final crossing to Trogir. Before a traditional farewell dinner with your group, crew and tour guides, a stroll through the old town will help you work up an appetite.

Day 8: Departure from Trogir

After breakfast, your tour comes to an end. It is possible, however, to extend your stay at your request.
