After breakfast a shuttle bus takes you past the vast and luscious rice fields in the direction of Halong Bay. On the way you’ll stop break up the driving with a short cycle tour to stretch your legs between Dong Trieu and Ben Trieu. It’s quite possible that along the way a local farmer will take the time to educate you first hand about the cultivation of rice. Then an early lunch served by a local family precedes another stretch on the bus to the city of Halong. Here you are welcomed on board the traditional Junk (boat) and taken on a longer crossing the a beautiful and quiet bay in front of the Island of Trà Ban.

Day 3 – Tra Ban Island and Quan Lan Island: 42km cycle:

Today’s stage starts after breakfast with a short transfer to a tiny jetty on the island of Trà Ban. Narrow paths and expansive rice fields lead the way as you cycle across this stunning and virtually tourist free island. A common sight are the Vietnamese water buffalos grazing as you pass, and the local farmers who very much love to converse whilst tending to their fields. After a pleasant tour you will meet the ship again where you will be served lunch whilst crossing to Quan Lan. Quan Lan is characterised by its untouched, white sandy beaches, where a long relaxing swim closes out today’s stage. In the evening you leave the Bai Tu Long bay behind you and cover some miles across the sea in the direction of Halong Bay.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay: Kayak Day

After breakfast you continue your cruise to the magical Halong Bay. The afternoon is then a chance to explore this incredible fairy-tale world by kayak; paddling into the Luon Cave, through the beautiful gate, around the lagoon lake and at the base of the sheer cliffs – where monkeys run wild and free. Before dinner you’ll visit the Bo Hon Island ‘Amazing Cave’ – one of the finest and widest grottoes of Halong Bay. Inside the grotto or thousands of stalactites and stalagmites along the 500 metre paved passage circle.

Day 5: Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay: Kayak Day

Today you disembark the Junk with your luggage and take a transfer boat to Lan Ha bay. Here you will climb into kayaks and paddle to a magnificent beach where a delicious midday meal awaits you. After lunch, a lengthy and relaxing swim break in the emerald green waters will cool you off, before a small boat will pick you up from the beach and take you to the island of Cat Ba. A short transfer then takes you to your hotel where you have the afternoon to unpack and relax by the pool or at the beach.

Day 6: Cat Ba Insel – Viet Hai Village: 15km cycle

Here a guided walk will take you through the protected old-growth forest where not only the untouched flora but also the large and colourful butterflies which inhabit the island, will truly take your breath away. The aim is to reach the highest peak of the island, which, on a good day, offers incredible, panoramic views of the Ha Long bay and the rest of the island. You’ll then cycle back to the boat which will bring you to the comfort of the Sunrise Resort, where the evening can be enjoyed on the hotel’s very own sandy beach.

Day 7: Cat Ba Insel – Hau Phong – Hoi An: 35km cycle

After breakfast you depart on a wonderful bike tour of Cat Ba. During the tour you’ll experience the hustle and bustle of local market life and take a visit to the national park, where the information centre will further inform you on the diverse flora and fauna of the region. After lunch at the hotel a boat taxi will take you to Haiphong where a bus takes you to the nearby airport. In the late afternoon a flight takes you to Da Nang, from where a short transfer by shuttle bus takes you to your hotel resort in Hai An.

Day 8: Hai An: 17km cycle

Today’s stage offers the opportunity to observe the daily life of the local farmers. In the morning you’ll cycle to Tra Que – a small village in the suburban area of Hai An. Tra Que takes its name from a sweet vegetable often used by the locals to cice their meals: a totally new speciality! Your host and you prepare today’s meal together and you’ll learn all about the special ingredient. The afternoon can be spent individually: a stroll through the picturesque old town or a swim at the beach of Cua Dai both come highly recommended.

Day 9: Hoi An – Hue:

This morning Hoi An is free at your disposal. Then, in the early afternoon you’ll check out of the hotel and then hop on to the shuttle bus, which takes you to Hue. En route you’ll make a brief stop at the Cloud Pass, the weather line between North and South Vietnam. You’ll also make another short stopover on Lang Co Beach.
